IPOs

IPOs

Clients of ESUPERFUND can invest in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) for Companies that are to be Publicly Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX).

An IPO or “Float” as they are sometimes referred to is where you buy shares from a company itself when shares are offered to the public for the first time through an initial public offer (IPO). These shares can either be purchased directly from the company or via a broker.

If you have participated in or are interested in IPO’s or a “Float” it is important to note that when completing the application form the details you enter on the IPO match the SMSF registration details held with your SMSF's EBROKING Share Trading Account.

When a Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF) purchases shares through an IPO it is done so in the name of the SMSF and includes the Corporate Trustee and/or Individual Trustees details.

For Example:

Where your SMSF has a Corporate Trustee the details that should appear on the application form are as follows:

John Smith Pty Ltd
<Smith Superfund A/C>

Where your SMSF has Individual Trustees the details that should appear on the application form are as follows:

Mr John Smith & Mrs Jane Smith
<Smith Superfund A/C>

What happens if the details do not match?

Depending on the details that are incorrectly appearing on your IPO or Issuer Sponsored statement you may be able to change this directly with the Share Registry. Each company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has its own Issuer Sponsored Sub-register for the registration of shares in that company (ie Share Registry). The details of the Share Registry that your IPO is held with can be located on the offer document or Issuer Sponsor Statement you have received.

If the details entered on your IPO do not match your SMSF registration details as described above then you will be required to correct these details by completing an Off Market Transfer Form with EBROKING.

EBROKING

By completing the EBROKING Off Market Transfer Form you will be able to correct any registration discrepancy details you have between the Initial Public Offering and your SMSF registration. In addition once you have to completed the Off Market Transfer Form your share holdings will appear under your Share Trading Account (in order to sell shares online they must be CHESS sponsored).

It is important to ensure that the account details to purchase the Initial Public Offering match your SMSF Registration details to avoid any future ATO compliance Issues.

A separate Off Market Transfer Form will need to be completed for each stock you wish or need to transfer.

To download the form log into your EBROKING account and navigate to Support -> Contact Us -> Forms -> Off Market Transfer Form.

Complete the form and post to:

Transfer fee

A fee of $55 is payable for each different stock transferred. The fee will be automatically debited from the bank account linked to your EBROKING Trading account.

How do I transfer Issuer Sponsored shares (from an IPO or Float) over to CHESS with EBROKING?

There are three methods for transferring issuer sponsored shares held with the share registry into your EBROKING trading account.

Please note: The shares you wish to transfer must have identical registration details to your EBROKING trading account. If registration details differ by even one character, such as 'Ms' instead of 'Mrs', your transfer will be unsuccessful.
